Our super smooth body butter is streamlined to only use ingredients necessary to gain the herbal benefits and properties. This means no filler and using infusions wherever possible to make the best use of each plant that goes into our products.

Our Body Butter includes refined Shea, Mango, and Kokum Butters - refined butters lose some of those potent nutrients but our temperature-controlled processing method helps retain so many of the benefits. Let's go through those briefly.

  • Shea Butter - moisturizing, protective, and gently anti-inflammatory - Shea is tied to reduced skin irritation, firming skin, and reducing wrinkles.

    • Linoleic acid can protect skin and reduce irritation symptoms1 (eg. Eczema & psoriasis); Antioxidants (vitamin A and E) which is linked to firming skin and reducing wrinkles

  • Mango Butter - derived from Mangifera Indica seeds, this butter is similar to Shea in its properties with the added benefits anti-inflammatory action from the phytosterols in mango butter

    • Contains Vitamins A, C, and E.

    • Phytosterols are currently an area of further research needed2

  • Kokum Butter - carries a similar profile to Mango and Shea with some specifics. It's inclusion is also for texture reasons in our formulation as the hardness of Kokum increases the proportion of plant-powered beneficial ingredients used in the final product.

Our body butter also uses the following herbs for aroma-therapeutic benefits3:

  • Sweet Orange - Immune supportive and emotionally balancing, Orange has also been linked with digestive and muscular support. In this blend, it helps settle any stomach "butterflies", uplift our general mood, and open our emotional core to the supportive effects of the following herbs.

  • Sage - A nerve tonic, soothing, and warming. Sage was historically nicknamed "clear eyes" for its historical uses in clearing eye issues. It's connection to clarity and soothing vibes encourages a grounded sense to start and end the day.

  • Frankincense - One of the holy oils of the Middle East, frankincense also shows affect supporting emotional balance, immune, and nervous system support. Through focusing energy and minimizing distractions, this herb provides a mellow yet functional note to our blend.

Behind The Plants is a brief dive into the plants that power each of our products. Think of this like bite-sized, casual, fact-backed spark-notes . Each BTP will cover a product we currently or previously offered. These BTP are literature reviews and correlation conclusions - not scientific proofs nor claims of professional medical expertise. Introduce yourself slowly to new plants, ensure you're taking proper dosages of plant supports, and check in with your medical resources if you experience any adverse reactions for plant supports either from me, other herbalists, or produced on your own. At the end of the day, you, me, and the plants are all of one planet Earth. Getting acquainted with them, growing and caring for them, using their properties to care for ourselves is a relationship centuries old. So move smart, but no need for fear.

A Note On Our Sourcing - Essential Oils

At a recent market, I was asked a very poignant and pleasing question: "Where do you source your essential oils?" I was super happy to answer that the majority of my essential oils are sourced via MOM
